Paranoid Podcast 21: Crispin Lee - Presence in Absentia

After a long wait, the Paranoid Foundation are back and are proud to announce the availability of Paranoid Podcast 21 - Crispin Lee's brand-new 24-minute mini album 'Presence in Absentia'.

Needless to say it is very good indeed. Crispin delivers up a heady mix of post-punk, avant-rock and well, eclectism! Featuring lyrical content in French and English for the first time, these 24 minutes are some of the best PF material to be committed to the podcast series yet.

Tracklisting:
Another Grammar
Wrongs
Words and Ruin
Running
Hopes
Possession
Bad Translations
First She Looks
No Mistake
Seeing and Knowing

The podcast is as always free to listen to and download and can be found in itunes (search for Paranoid Podcast in the store if you are not already subscribed) or alternatively HERE

Happy listening, we'll try not to leave it so long next time...

Paranoid Podcast 19 - Winter 2011/2012

Hi all...

After a brief hiatus, the Paranoid Podcast returns with episode 19. This time we feature more of Crispin Lee's solo excursions under the guise of Paranoid 404. A short 5-track set of brand new material, clocking in at around 16 minutes. In Crispin's own words:

"The following five tracks are a one-off set of recordings to keep the chill at bay, as another Winter of discontent closes in. No titles, no vocals: just a series of unplanned, one-take recordings that fitted together. Enjoy."

Spring is in the Air!

It's only a couple of weeks since the Winter 2010 Paranoid Podcast appeared, but it's time to move on already. Some unexpected sunshine this past week has brought on an early spring at paranoid HQ and so another edition has popped up unexpectedly.

The Spring 2010 podcast features our great 'lost' album from 2005 'Skylines of the Future'. Having just released our debut set 'Foundations' earlier that year, we originally spent many months on the follow-up but things didn't quite work out as expected. Revisiting the original recordings just this past week, everything suddenly and unexpectedly fell into place. Expect lo-fi ambience with layered electronic effects deployed to explore contemplative themes. This is an album that we're particularly proud of. 37 minutes of essential paranoia HERE

Podcast error, now rectified!

In my haste to upload edition 13 of the podcast last week I made the mistake of putting up a low-res version of the audio. Whoops! However, I have now rectified this. If you downloaded/listened to said podcast before today, you may want to revisit it and hear it as it was intended to be heard... by clicking here

Apologies!

August Podcast

Since i'm going to be away for much of the summer, August comes early for Paranoid fans. The August podcast is now online and can be found in the usual places i.e. in iTunes or by clicking HERE.

It's another exclusive piece... this time a 25-minute instrumental outtake from the Paranoid 404 'Anew Design' sessions back in 2007. This project saw Cris experiment with minimal synth and electronic textures and the podcast features a brooding trip into his distinctive haunted audio atmospherics.

The August podcast is the 11th of the series. This is the penultimate edition for the time being... expect another great episode in September and then a little more infrequently from then onwards. However we are keeping ourselves very busy in other areas... expect to hear more about our ongoing activities very soon!

Recession Era

It's podcast time, and for the month of July, we have another of my solo pieces. This one is entitled 'Recession Era' and the concept is to portray the mood of the current economic downturn and its social consequences via a 30 minute audio piece. Like the rest of the series, you can download it/listen for free.

To create the music, I used only a selection of instruments and audio devices that were lying unused around my home. Most of them were budget, lo-fi instruments chosen to give the desired gritty sound I was looking for. They included... electric guitar, harmonium, viola, theremin, drum machine and buddha machine. The piece was created and mixed in a single session and is thus full of glitches, errors and suchlike that I feel give character and are in keeping with the general theme of recession and the need for audio thriftyness!

See what you think by listening... HERE.

You can also subscribe to the series in iTunes - just search for Paranoid Podcast in the iTunes store.

Announcing the May Podcast edition

Another month... another Paranoid Podcast! For May we have a unique edition of somewhat historical significance. A collection of Crispin Lee's early works entitled 'This Was the Future... Then'.

As a teenager in SE London during the 1990's, Cris was immersing himself in an eclectic selection of punk, post punk, indie and outsider music. Bands such as the Sex Pistols, the Fall, Joy Division and Flying Saucer Attack provided the musical foundations that inspired him to begin crafting his own material in his own distinctive style. With raw instrumentation accompanied by tormented lyrics, the origins of the paranoid sound can be found here.
